With my mentor and teacher Mr John Monahan; the Imminent Senior Cancer Surgeon at Gateshead; we are celebrating 40 years, since Laser Suction Speculum, we first designed and used, in Gateshead, Newcastle University. Without this, we would not have been able to complete Laser Vaporization of precancerous lesions of the cervix; that we used to the first time in Human in 1977.
At 20 weeks a wife of Ex-Minister of Health in Syria, we found that her cervix 9cm dilated Without contractions or pains. The baby was seen floating in the membranes. We had to put back the membranes and the baby in the uterus and closed the cervix with 2 cervical sutures. The mother carried on pregnant until 38 weeks when delivered baby girl she called her Rabeaa’ which means the fourth. She had 3 girls prior to that.
Removal of cervical cancer but without removing the uterus for 2 ladies to allow them get pregnant. To The first time we carried it out in human, in 1995 and 1996 in Cambridge UK. The 2 ladies are celebrating their 20 and 21 years of cure from cervical cancer. Since then over 170 such cases have been performed in the world. We presented this new operation in FIGO World Congress in Washington 2000 and in many world conferences.
Mrs. Amira S M celebrating with her family in Riyadh the birth of her gorgeous daughter 6 years Earlier after 10 years of infertility and failed induction of ovulation, failed IUI & IVF repeatedly. She got pregnant after our endoscopic laser surgery which we developed in Cambridge in 1999 in which we brought down the high tubes and ovaries down to the bottom of the pelvis to collect the ova. She got pregnant naturally 1 months after our surgery. She delivered 6 years earlier. Family & daughter visited us in Dubai recently.
With god help, we removed 77 fibroids from Mrs Fatima R.A. by laparoscopic surgery without opening her abdomen, without hysterectomy and without blood transfusion. The uterus was refashioned to allow Fatima to get pregnant in the future. The operation lasted over 4 hours. Fatima was allowed home the following day.
Lady Ola S. with 2 separate uterine cavities one of which was blind, not connected with the vagina, Causing very severe pain with each period. Having had 3 previous laparoscopies; we carried out complex laparoscopy & Laser to form a new artificial cervix to connect the blind uterus to the vagina. She got pregnant with 3 consecutive children afterwards. The fourth pregnancy was in the blind uterus which we had to terminate for fear of rupture of thin walled uterus in pregnancy. We found only one woman in China had similar pregnancy in the blind uterus. Recently Ola & her husband visited us from Abu Dhabi.
After 17 early & late miscarriages lady Mary H, got pregnant in Leicester University-UK. She developed severe reduction of fluid around the baby from 18 weeks in her 18th pregnancy. We treated her by hypertonic Dextrose 30% and Amino Acids in central vein above her heart, to create artificial diabetic status so the placenta get bigger and produce more amniotic fluids, and prevent the death of the baby. We delivered the baby girl by Caesarean section at 38 weeks. First live baby following 17 miscarriages and 19 years of marriage.
Saudi lady Samra. S. was astonished to find herself after 12 years of infertility and despite having Regular periods without interruption that she find herself pregnant, after 4 months of operating on her using laparoscopy and laser plus balloon to open up her tubes. She previously had 3 failed IVFs.
Very unusual story of Nada E. after 21 years of marriage and with total absence of period all her life, and despite attempting treatments by dozens of colleagues she never got pregnant and never menstruated. But Nada got pregnant with twin following aggressive induction of ovulation with 110 Ampules- she had delivered lovely twine daughters after 22 years of marriage. Prior to her twin Nada got pregnant with one baby but she miscarried at 5 month. Then out of sorrow, she refused any more treatments until her sister, following our treatment, got pregnant with triplet.
After 23 years of infertility and very long 5 hours operation of massive Adhesiolysis with Laparoscopy, Mrs Aminah O. managed to get pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl. The father, for a fear of envy, refused to let his baby daughter out of their room in Tertous – middle of Syria, and refused anybody to take photo of the baby until she was over 1 year old; when her mother had another baby.
Unique story of Lady Amanda J. had nine miscarriages between 17 & 19 weeks despite vaginal and abdominal Cerclage of her cervix. Upon admission in her tenth pregnancy in Cambridge, having had abdominal suture; placed in Sheffield University a month earlier; we found her cervix 9cm dilated and membranes intact at 17 weeks. We managed to push the membranes and the fetal parts in, and close the cervix with 2 extra sutures. She carried on pregnant despite her; on & off, ruptured membranes until 25 ½ weeks when she developed severe intra-uterine infection. We deliver her by Caesarean section to deliver the miracle baby as it is called in newspapers in England. The baby girl weighed 560 g but despite being smaller than her uncle’s palm, in famous photo published worldwide she managed to survive. Amanda carried out her next pregnancy No 11 for two weeks beyond the date of her baby’s delivery date without any treatment.
